Seabourn has launched an online site with suggested lists of equipment and clothing for the ‘Ultimate Antarctica & Patagonia’ voyages later this year on Seabourn Quest.
The company said it teamed with an experienced polar outfitter, Ship to Shore Traveller, on a site for passengers wishing to order the specialized insulated boots suggested for Antarctica. These will be provided on the ship, eliminating the need to pack and carry heavy and bulky boots.
Seabourn’s Adventure Outfitter offers a full range of expedition gear with direct to ship delivery and can be reached from www.seabourn.com.
All passengers on the Antarctica program will receive an included Seabourn expedition parka and a daypack, noted John Delaney, svp marketing and sales. Those seeking other cold-weather pieces may purchase additional clothing as a package or by the piece on the website here.
Delaney said all the items available for sale have been tested and are suitable for excursions ashore in the Antarctic climate.
A selection of suggested books, field guides and maps is also available from the site
Beginning Nov. 20, Seabourn Quest will sail on a series of four 21- to 24-day voyages between Valparaíso, Chile, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. They include days exploring the Chilean coast and fjords, Beagle Channel, Glacier Alley, Torres del Paine National Park, Cape Horn, the Falkland/Malvinas Islands, Montevideo and five days of cruising and landings on the Antarctic continent.
A 24-day holiday version departing Dec. 11 will include a rare visit to the sub-Antarctic South Georgia Island, renowned for its teeming rookeries of king penguins and other seabirds, as well as breeding elephant and fur seals.
