Seabourn has released a preview of the Seabourn Square public area on its two new luxury expedition ships, the Seabourn Venture and its yet-to-be-named sibling vessel. Adam D. Tihany designed this iteration of the space, which is present on Seabourn’s other five ships, with the aim of making it a true “living room” for the new expedition vessels, the cruise line said.
On the expedition ships, Seabourn Square will have a European-style coffee bar, as well as an open environment where guests will be able to interact with the ship’s officers and the expedition team. The space will also be home to the ship’s Guest Services staff, who will provide a range of concierge services such as general ship information, assistance with special service requests, port and travel information, and more.
In addition to coffee prepared using beans roasted onboard, Seabourn Square will also offer freshly made pastries and other on-the-go breakfast items in the morning, as well as an assortment of light sandwiches and desserts later in the day. There will also be a selection of artisanal gelati made onboard.
Other than food, guests will be able to find a wide range of books in the adjoining library, as well as a selection of printed newspapers from around the world and tablets with the Press Reader news application.
In keeping with the design on its two most recent ships – Seabourn Encore and Seabourn Ovation – the circular Guest Services concierge desks in Seabourn Square face outward, while wood-backed scalloped banquettes and lounge chairs designed as part of the Seabourn Venture collection by Tihany’s product arm encircle live-edge-wood coffee and side tables. Riveted leather wall panels envelop the room and, overhead, a circular patterned ceiling recalls the symmetrical composition of a compass.
In addition, the lounge will extend onto the aft of Deck 6, offering guests a variety of outdoor seating, as well as fixed Swarovski telescopes.
Each of the two new luxury expedition ships will have 132 oceanfront veranda suites. The Seabourn Venture is scheduled to launch in June 2021, followed by its sibling vessel in May
