Regent Seven Seas Cruises^® has announced that construction for Seven Seas Prestige^™ is well underway at the Fincantieri shipyard in Venice, Italy. Executives from Regent Seven Seas Cruises were on hand for a keel-laying ceremony, marking the moment when the ship’s structure was laid onto building blocks.

As part of a long-standing maritime tradition, three coins were welded into the keel of the new ship: a rare Venetian coin from 1688 honouring the ship’s birthplace, a 1992 silver US Dollar representing the year Regent Seven Seas Cruises was established, and a commemorative coin specially minted for the occasion.
