Oceania Cruises Marks Major Milestone with Float Out of Oceania Sonata
Here at Deluxe Cruises, we are thrilled to share an exciting update from our partners at Oceania Cruises. The cruise line recently celebrated a significant construction milestone with the successful float out of the Oceania Sonata at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy.
As the inaugural ship in the brand’s new Sonata Class, the Oceania Sonata measures approximately 86,000 gross tons and features 695 luxurious rooms and suites. With her exterior structure now fully complete, the vessel has transitioned from the dry dock to the fitting-out berth, where interior craftsmanship will take centre stage ahead of her eagerly anticipated debut in August 2027.
What to Expect Aboard the Oceania Sonata
- Exceptional Space: Being nearly 30% larger than the Oceania Allura while hosting only 90 additional guests ensures an extraordinary sense of space, comfort, and serenity throughout the ship.
- Exquisite Accommodations: One-third of all accommodations are suites, introducing brand-new categories such as the expansive Horizon Suites and the refined Penthouse Deluxe Suite, alongside the line’s first-ever two-bedroom Owner’s Suites.
- World-Class Dining: True to Oceania Cruises’ reputation for serving “The Finest Cuisine at Sea,” the ship will boast 13 culinary venues, including two brand-new concepts: La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France and Nikkei Kitchen.
Inaugural Season Itineraries
Following her launch, the Oceania Sonata will embark on an extensive inaugural season running from August 2027 through April 2028. She is set to visit more than 90 captivating destinations across Europe, the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, Mexico, and Central and South America. Highlighted voyages include:
- Mediterranean Collage: A 14-day maiden voyage setting sail on 7 August 2027, from Rome to Trieste, exploring Italy, Malta, Greece, Montenegro, and Croatia.
- Greeks & Byzantines: A 7-day Eastern Mediterranean journey departing 14 October 2027, from Athens to Istanbul, featuring an overnight stay in Istanbul.
- Panama Canal Coastlines: A 16-day voyage starting 6 January 2028, taking guests from Los Angeles to Miami via Central America and a daylight transit of the Panama Canal.
- Tropical Coves: A 10-day roundtrip sunshine escape departing Miami on 1 March 2028, island-hopping across the Caribbean.
