Seabourn guests can now read same-day publications on their mobile devices.

Seabourn is enhancing the travel experience for guests with the launch of PressReader Offline, a customisable digital newspaper and magazine service, on its award-winning, Odyssey-class ships – Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Sojourn and Seabourn Quest. Through this breakthrough technology, Seabourn is offering guests complimentary, full editions of their favorite global newspapers and magazines from a selection of more than 2,500, available to download on personal iOS or Android mobile devices while in port or at sea.pr_offline

We pride ourselves on giving our guests the highest quality amenities, as well as all of the comforts of home during their holiday,” said Seabourn President Richard D. Meadows. “With PressReader Offline, we are setting new standards for customer service by keeping our guests connected to the daily news and events from around the world – a service they’ve come to expect during their travels.

The PressReader app supplies newspapers and magazines in their entirety, including all printed sections. Seabourn ships will download the requested content daily, and store it on the ships’ local network, so guests can access their choice without going online. Guests may download the app in advance or whilst onboard. In addition, each ship will make available a small supply of tablets with PressReader already downloaded for use by guests who do not carry personal mobile devices.

We are happy to support Seabourn’s goal of providing the ultimate cruise experience and services to its guests,” said Igor Smirnoff, chief commercial officer of PressReader. “This is the first news service that solves the challenges of continuous access to a broadband network. Now guests can enjoy unlimited offline access to the latest publications at any time throughout their Seabourn holiday.

Seabourn’s three Odyssey-class ships received rave reviews and acclaim as “game changers” for the luxury cruise segment when they entered service, beginning with Seabourn Odyssey in 2009, and followed by Seabourn Sojourn in 2010 and Seabourn Quest in 2011. The ships offer spacious suites, most with verandas, superb dining in a choice of venues, open bars, fine wines served at lunch and dinner, award-winning personalised service and a relaxed, sociable atmosphere. At 32,000 tons and carrying just 458 guests each, the ships provide one of the highest ratios of space per guest in the industry and unmatched levels of personalised service from nearly one staff member per guest.
