Last week some of the Deluxe Cruises team were fortunate to visit and experience Seabourn Venture and all that she offers.

The team benefitted from a comprehensive tour of the vessel’s various suite types (132 ocean-front in total) along with an opportunity to see and explore the restaurants, Spa & Wellness centre, Discovery Centre and lounges including the Expedition Lounge.

Throughout the ship the decor has been designed to combine timeless luxury and reflect the experience of early maritime explorers with an ambience that felt like a luxury ski lodge – a truly ‘warm’ environment to return to at the end of a day on the ice, kayaking, or simply going ashore to explore one of the many destinations that this ship is scheduled to visit.

Each suite from the Veranda Suites through to the duplex Wintergarden Suites, was fully equipped with organic, tactile and beautifully appointed furniture, fixtures and fittings. Each suite’s wardrobe includes a ‘heat jacket’ to facilitate the quick drying of outdoor parkas and guests are provided with top-of-the-range exclusive Helly Hansen jackets, a beanie hat and backpack – a gift which permanently marks them out as Adventurers.

A highlight was the opportunity to view one of the ship’s deep-diving submersibles in its dock below decks. The submarines offer 6 passengers (along with the pilot) the opportunity to travel beneath the waves to experience a unique adventure – each trip being guaranteed to be different from any other. A truly one-off experience offering a view of the World which very few are lucky enough to see.

On deck, in the Zodiac Garage, we were able to see the ship’s fleet of 24 Zodiac inflatable boats – an impressive fleet enabling guests to access the otherwise inaccessible landing points in the High North and Antarctic regions which make an expedition cruise so special.

The Discovery Centre, which acts as the teaching and academic centre, offers all guests the opportunity to meet after their trips each day – meeting to share their experiences and learn from each other, and the various specialists on each cruise (including geologists and geographers, oceanographers and marine life specialists as well as cultural and indigenous community representatives).

In a similar vein, the Bow Lounge has been designed to mimic the Ship’s bridge with a number of interactive monitors displaying real-time information about the voyage including radar plots and live footage from a drone deployed to show interesting features in the ship’s vicinity (such as Whales or other marine creatures) as well as weather information and more.

Seabourn Venture does also have – at the Captain’s discretion – an open Bridge policy which enables guests to get a full 360degree view of the vessels operations. Travel on this Ship really is a rich experience full of delight and detail.

We were very fortunate to experience lunch in the Restaurant before leaving the ship, a fabulous range of the highest quality food (including the famous Seabourn Fries) was served by the wonderful restaurant team accompanied by a selection of wines courtesy of the fabulous expert sommelier. It was as delicious as it looks.

Lesley and the Deluxe Cruises team would like to thank our hosts, Seabourn’s UK & EMEA sales leaders Lynn and Tom (and Carly of course) for their hospitality before and during the visit, and both Vice President of Expeditions Operations & Planning Robin West and Expedition Leader Luciano “Luqui” Bernacchi for sharing their knowledge and time on board the Ship.
